Helen Keller est née en 1880, dans la ville de Tuscumbia, en Alabama. À l’âge de dix-neuf mois, elle tomba malade avec une forte fièvre. Une fois la fièvre tombée, Helen était devenue sourde et aveugle.
Lorsque Helen avait six ans, un professeur, Annie Sullivan, venait chez elle pour l’aider. Helen apprit à utiliser le Braille, un système de lecture et d’écriture pour les personnes aveugles.
Helen a écrit de nombreux livres, et a voyagé tout autour du monde en tant qu’oratrice. Elle mourut dans son sommeil en juin 1968.
Helen Keller was born in 1880 in Alabama. When she was nineteen months old, she became sick with a high fever. After the fever passed, Helen was deaf and blind.
When Helen was six years old, a teacher came to her house to help her: Annie Sullivan. Helen learned to use Braille, a system of reading and writing for blind people.
Helen wrote many books, and traveled all over the world as a public speaker. She died in her sleep in June of 1968.
